Hi!. I saw this post just now. I know its kinda late to reply but i want to share my personal experience with a husband who had gout. 2012 he had a severe attack after slipping on a wet floor. Started from his big toe then spread out to his heel then the following day to the other foot and reached his knees on both legs after another day. Inflammed like elephant feet. Since we had flooding and storm during those times we had no way to go to the hospital. I desperately googled gout and thebest home remedy... i came across a website talking about baking soda. After reading testimonies from people who tried it, i tried it to my husband. After a week his infflamation gone down and was able to walk and continued another week. Gout is gone. Never had any attack evesince. Now whenever we feel any pain in our joints we take baking soda water...
If you want to try. This how my husband took it.
¼tsp every 4hrs diluted in a shooter glass with 2tablespoon water. Drink it follwed by 1 glass of water. For straight 2weeks ONLY. You have to have 1week rest before taking it again for 2weeks in case you feel there still swelling.
For minor pain and swelling like at the onset of an attack you may take it once a day just like how i take it at night before bed. Even up to this day we opted for baking soda whenever we feel body ache and pains. It makes our body alkaline.
I had attack in right ankle 15 years ago. Dr. gave me shot of cortisone in ankle. Pain almost immediately was gone. He put me on allopurinol pills. Two every evening and cut down on red meat and wine. I am pain free now!! I strongly advise you to do same. Good Luck!
@gba I’ve been trying to cut down on sugar treats because that’s when I get a flare up. I was doing good till one night I had 2 servings of frozen yogurt, thinking it had no sugar, well I had a toe attack in the middle of the night.
After that I developed pain on the left toe.
My question is this: I take 5,000 mcg of biotin. I forgot where I read it but it said that I should lower the mcg to 2,500. Is this necessary?
I was told to try adding Tart Cherry Juice to my regimen. I add about 2 oz to 8 oz water or so every day, about 2-3 times so get a total of 6 oz of Tart cherry juice. I like it. cannot drink even 4 oz straight. I also add lemon drops to my water daily. This has kept it at bay. Good luck! Tart Cherry Juice is expensive..

@cjrose326 I have had gout since 2000. I don't know everything but I do know if I didn't take my gout medication I would not be fit to live with. Food does have a lot to do with gout but I have never heard of a milk product that I needed to avoid. And biotin in is only a maybe.
Do not go to fast foods for any meals, cut out the processed foods, sugar, look at labels on all foods. The Cherry juice does help. I had one bad bout which lasted a few weeks and was hard to walk. I have not had more than a twinge in my toe since. I walk 3 plus miles every day. I do not take any meds for the condition. Also make sure to keep hydrated.
I've had gout since 2002, maybe undiagnosed since the 1990s.
After a couple trips to the hospital I learned to control it for 30 years by eating a LOW PURINE DIET. Purines cause gout inflammation. I relied on home remedy of IMMEDIATELY flushing my body with a couple tablespoons lemon juice, apple cider vinager and Black Cherry Juice (knudsen) and 32 ounces of water (or 7 up or soda water). Drink down quickly and stably over a couple hours. Then flush with water the rest of the day. Do that as soon as you feel a flare coming on. It always prevented the flare from realizing itself. My father relied on sipping warm water with a little lemon squeeze all day long. He never told me why! So I found out the hard way I had gout. I also figured out 30 years later I could no longer control it! If you are like me your uric acid will be high, and there is your answer. On they way to being on medication (allopurinol) I used Zazzee Tart Cherry Capsules and they worked amazingly well! That is when I realized all the inflammatory PAIN was from the GOUT! Not RA. Not OA. So, after 30 years, I was able to get rid of the damaging inflammation in my hands and joints throughout my body. Crazy the way the freaking stupid doctors ignore gout! (I'm STILL angry about that 3 years later). I saw so many stupid arthritis doctors and specialists. They used to say "some people with OA have pain and some don't and they don't know why." BS! Just BS! I had an inflammatory reaction to EVERYTHING. I couldn't exercise or garden anymore because of the pain! Now I can. At 69 I feel like I got my 30s back! Weather changes, fog, wind, and dramatic temperature changes still will make me stiff. But it is 80% lower than what it was before. I told the doctor that being high in the uric acid while on the Zazzee was not good enough. I wanted the medication. The medication brought me right to MIDDLE on the blood test. Yay.
I am a little confused. I have never heard of gout from an injury. Did he have gout before he fell and injured himself?
