Anyone else suffering arthritis in their feet? OUCH!

Posted by Bluegrass Gal @cindychesler, Jul 15, 2024

I suffer from arthritis in my feet along with Pes Cavus (really high arches considered a deformity). I have gotten BMAC stem cell therapy which only lasted a few weeks. Steroid shots. Physical therapy. And acupuncture and several rounds of an herb concoction that mixes with water. Additionally I apply ice packs and occasionally heat packs. All give temporary relief. I cannot take Celebrex, Advil or Aleve. I do not have rheumatoid arthritis. Any long term solutions?

I use a carbon Insole that I purchased from Amazon. I take out the Insole from my merrell hiking shoes and insert it. I replace the existing soft Insole with a medical grade one with an arch support. I find relief with this method and can walk 2 miles without a problem. Exercise can help strengthen those foot muscles that support affected joints. You might consider getting a referral for physical therapy. Best wishes for success in finding a solution to your concerns.

Hi was wondering if anybody had a recommendation for a good foot doctor in the Mayo system I am a patient there in the prostate cancer and cardiology and spine and eye dept. I am having trouble with my left foot with tailors Bunyan, and my toes climbing on top of one another on my right foot causing a lot of rubbing and burning pain. I had tried to make a appointment with foot doctor but they want a referral. I am down to the Mayo several times a year so would be easy to set up an appt with one of the mayo out clinics. Thank you

@colleenyoung Thank you I sent out a request as a self-referral giving them my Mayo number and my condition especially with my right foot my toes are moving to the left so my 2nd toe is halfway onto my big toe, it makes it hard to put on shoes lots of days and it is getting worse and I have the biggest toe box shoes that I have been able to find.. Tried to bike today with my biking shoes and only made 10 miles so it's gotten to the point where I will have to do something. Thank you for you help. Larry

ingekunga, Ouch! So painful. Here are the things that helped me:

1) Freeze a water bottle and roll your foot over it several times a day to help with inflammation.
2) Get a Podiatrist to fit you with orthotics. Wear good supportive shoes.
3) Do exercises that stretch the fascia (they are on Youtube). Roll at ball under your foot. Pick up marbles with your toes, etc.,
4) Do not wear flip flops or go barefooted.
5) Do not get an injection directly into the heel. It could damage your foot.
6) Lose weight if you need to. Every pound extra is 4 pounds on your knees and the extra weight on your feet is hard on them. (I'm preaching to the choir on this one, believe me!)
7) Rub your feet/foot down with Voltaren Gel.
8) When I get my knee or shoulders injected, the cortisone in the past stopped my plantars fasciitis. Crazy I know!

Praying for you as I know this is painful. Blessings & Prayers...

I have it from my big and 2nd toe across the top of my foot. It’s from breaking my big toe twice.
Ice and heat, anti-inflammatories, and medical tape to stable my foot have helped. Also wearing shoes with a good arch. I use OTC orthotic inserts.
