Evenity - dizzy and nauseous

Posted by deb541 @deb541, Feb 28 10:11am

I am getting ready to go for my 3rd shot of Evenity but have noticed on day 19 and 20, after receiving the shot, I'm getting bouts of dizziness (room spinning) and some nausea. Not sure why its happens later rather then sooner after receiving the shot. Is anyone having the same issue? If so, do you see the effects lessening as time goes on? I really don't want to give up on the injections due to the significant gains its supposed to supply. I'm also hoping my doctor doesn't take me off it either. Any insight would help.

deb541, because the dizziness it thought to be possible indication of cardiac issues, you might make your physician aware before your next injection. Did the dizziness persist through the subsequent injection? Evenity can cause hypocalcemia which could account for the dizziness. You doctor may want to run some tests before the third injection.

Hi, I had to get a cardiac screening before going on Evenity. Did you get that done?

My doctor did advise me to get adequate calcium intake while on Evenity. I take Citracal.

I don't have any dizziness or nausea with Evenity. I've had prior issues with severe vertigo and motion sickness so I'm relieved that I haven't had any symptoms yet with Evenity except for the injection site soreness.

@gently Thanks for the response. My next appointment is this Thursday at which time I will be meeting with the doctor before heading into the next room to receive the injections. The dizziness lasted on and off that one morning and was not accompanied by any other symptoms. The nausea came on a separate day. The following month the dizziness wasn't as strong and didn't last as long. But it did occur. It was similar to vertigo where you see the room spin. I find it odd that both times the symptoms didn't occur until basically 20 days after the injections. That's why I didn't make the connection the first month. But as you said, I think it best to ask for a blood test. I'll circle back on Friday, letting you know what the doctor had to say.

@followheart87 - No. I didn't get a check up from a cardiologist prior to going on Evenity. I was only asked verbally if I've had any heart conditions.

@followheart87 I forgot to say, yes. I've been taking 1200 mg of calcium daily along with 1000 IU of Vitamin D.

Quick update. My doctor says my symptom of being 'dizzy - room spinning' isn't related to Evenity. He suggested that it may be vertigo. I've had vertigo many times and this felt different. But we'll see what happens this month. Also, since my recent blood test I do see my calcium level dropped slightly. It's still in the normal range, but getting close to 'low'. So I will be staying on top of that. Thank you
