Empagliflozin, Jardiance, 10 mg for CKD ?
Has anyone been taking Empagliflozin, Jardiance, for CKD? Studies have shown it to reduce Sodium-Glucose co-transporter2 inhibitor (SGLT2). It is said to slow the progression of CKD and reduce kidney failure. It is also taken for Heart failure, for which it was originally intended, but was also found to be affective for CKD. The usage amount is 10 mg. daily. The findings were made known at a Kidney Seminar, March 2025, with recommendations for broader use by Nephrologist. Your thoughts or comments would be appreciated.

Hi,
Some time ago I was prescribed Empagliflozen for T2 diabeties. I also have CKD which they thought it would help. Sadly 3 hours after taking each pill it would compromise me. It was as if I was paralysed in the dark for around 2 hours each time. I tend to react differently to medications than most people experience. As you might imagine I stopped taking it pretty quickly and the symptoms stopped with it.
It has some serious side effects and needs to be monitored initially until the body gets used to it or not.
Cheers

1 ReactionI have been taking Jardiance for a few months and my blood sugar is well controlled. I don't ave any side effects from it. I'll know in a few months after my next appointment. It is expensive.

1 ReactionGlad to hear good results. You can get Jardiance or its much cheaper Generic, Empagliflozin, from Canada Prescriptions Plus on line with your doctor's prescription. I have been using them for a year now for Eliquis as well, generic brand Apixaban, with good results and savings $$$. FYI.

2 ReactionsThe only issue is the cost.
Your point is well taken as the Brand in the U.S is expensive.
I purchase the Generic, Empagliflozin, through Canada Prescription's Plus, a 90 day qty. for $112.40+ shipping etc. which comes to Approx. $145.00 after shipping. It was less before Pres. Trump added Tariffs. You can get the Brand Jardiance for a little more cost.
I buy a generic substitute for Jardiance from Canada as well. Difference is that my Medicare D plan has a high deductible because I take all generic drugs, so my first prescription of Jardiance would have cost $800! I told my pharmacy to put the Jardiance back in inventory and bought Empagliflozin in Canada, same price as above.
Perhaps you should try Canada Prescriptions Plus. My cost is as I stated for 10 mg. for a 90 day supply. Good luck.
You mis-read my comment. I already DO buy mine in Canada, same price as yours for a 90 day supply. I also buy my wife's Eliquis generic at the same time (apixaban). You've gotta love how Big Pharma overcharges Americans.
@cheyne I had really bad reaction to it messed up my breathing stopped it on a different med now
Glad to hear your response. I did misread it.
