Dry eyes solution
I had dry eyes for many years and tried just about every dry eye drops available . Over the last 12 months I have been using clear wrap around safety glasses which seals in the humidity created by my eyes plus protection against wind and outside influences . It keeps my eyes moist enough to reduce dry eye significantly to a point where I don't notice it . Overnight. I sometimes get it if I don't wear the glasses so I wear the glasses to bed . Sounds ridiculous but it works for me and I had severe Dry Eyes .Of it works for you please let me know.I'm an Aussie and live in hot Queensland.Regards Frank

That’s quite innovative! I tried wearing night goggles that are designed for dry eye years ago, but I struggled to find the right fit. They’re quite expensive. Glad yours is working for you.
I found that eye ointment applied at night helped quite a bit, i still need daily drops occasionally. I may revisit the eye goggle treatment.

1 ReactionI have been told I have dry eye for 20 years or more and have found out through trial and error that most of my eye troubles was all the chemicals that fly around in the air, I felt like I had saran wrap over the top of my eyes and I could clear it up, I bought some Bausch and Lomb eye wash and wash my eyes out every day morning and night now and don't have dry eye, it is all those forever chemicals that are polluting the air our cloths and our bodies and lungs. My cataract surgery was not done right and I have problems with one eye because the doctor made a mistake with it damn, but can't do anything about it. I am 78 and frustrated with our medical system now because of the way insurances rule our doctors.

4 ReactionsI have been dealing with dry eyes for 25 years plus.
At night I use eye goggles “ eyeeco. “.
You could get them on Amazon or directly from the company
I also use refresh drops during the day and refresh p.m.
I am now using a CPAP machine for breathing issues
These goggles help me greatly
When I started using them, I had trifocals and within three months I didn’t need glasses anymore, cause the moisture in my eyes
This is a very small company, I use the petite
Wish you the very best
Here's another potential solution that I mentioned on another dry eye thread: maqui berry. It stimulates the lacrimal glands to produce more tears, plus has a powerful anti-inflammatory effect. These results have been verified by several studies (see: https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC10276697/ and https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S2225411018308691).
Note that both of the studies looked at maqui berry extract. The studies considered 30 - 60 mg of the extract, but you get the same compounds in freeze-dried maqui berry powder and my personal experience suggests that you can get beneficial effect from a daily dose of just 1/2 teaspoon of the powder (roughly equivalent to 15 grams of fresh berries). I just mix it into a half glass of water and drink it down, but you could also add it to yogurt, oatmeal, smoothies, or other things.
I started taking maqui in 2020, after a year and a half of really severe dry eye, so bad that sometimes I would worry that I wouldn't be able to make it home while driving because my eyes were so irritated that closing them was the only way to get relief. It is the only supplement I've ever taken where I felt results the very first day I took it. I've been taking it ever since and have never again experienced a severe dry eye attack, though I can still get some irritation at the end of the day if I've been sitting in front of a computer all day or I'm tired. It's still nothing like the dry eye attacks I used to get.
This stuff only costs around $15 for a 4 month supply, it's available from a number of vendors online, and it's food that people have been eating for thousands of years so you don't have a long list of side effects, though if you're diabetic, you might want to run it past your doctor and monitor your blood sugar levels closely, because it also has the effect of lowering blood sugar. Aside from that or allergy, there's not much to worry about with it.
If I still had the dry eye problem, I would definitely try it before any of the prescription drugs or other options, because it's safe, cheap, easy, and proven in a number of studies to alleviate dry eye. I think in the first study on it I read way back in 2020, it helped 80% of the study participants. It could be that for those it didn't help, their problem was caused by meibomian gland dysfunction or something aside from insufficient tear production. In any case, if you try it and it doesn't work to alleviate your dry eye symptoms, it's still really good for you - it has the highest levels of antioxidants of any of the berries, including blueberry, bilberry, and acai. Try it! And if it works for you too, come back here and let me and everyone else know! Dry eye is so miserable and debilitating; if I can help anyone with this information I want to do it. I've recommended it to several people and it has worked for them, so there's a good chance it will work for you as well.

4 Reactions@wetamdinark - The NIH study only had 20 participants.
The other one had more, though it was still a relatively small study (74 participants).
But so what? I'm here telling you it works for me, it works for the four other friends and family I've recommended it to, and there are a few studies that indicate the same even if they didn't involve thousands of people. It's food. It's inexpensive. Why wouldn't anyone who has dry eye want to try it before taking a much more expensive medication with side effects?
@wetamdinark Hello, I am wondering which brand of Maqui berry powder you purchase. It seems to be quite expensive. Thank you for your post. If you do not purchase the extract, how many milligrams is necessary? I hope that makes sense. Thank you.
@jhs1950 I've been buying the Food To Live brand because it's usually less expensive (sometimes cheaper on their website than Amazon, and they do free shipping) but I've also used TerraSoul, Navitas, and other brands. I haven't noticed any difference in effectiveness between the brands, so I just buy the least expensive brand whenever it's time to order.
It generally runs around $15 for 4 ounces - but that's enough to last 3 - 4 months so it's really not very expensive - no more than 20 cents per day. Sometimes you can get it in an 8 ounce package at a lower per-ounce price. I take 1/2 teaspoon a day, which is about 1 to 1-1/2 grams - equivalent to or greater than the 60 mg of extract used in the studies.
I hope it works for you! In the studies, they tested after a month of daily use, but I got relief on day one. I don't know if that would be typical, so I would try it for a month if you don't have an immediate result. Good luck!
@wetamdinark
I put a scoop of maqui berry in a shake with almond milk, yogurt, banana, and flax seed; I couldn't take it in just water. I use a scoop, i.e. 4.9 grams, the recommended amount - Koyah was $30/ 30 servings. I've only been on it a week, so I'll let you know.
@mtnwoman I hope it does work for you, but you're using way more than needed. That shouldn't be a problem if it's not causing stomach upset or anything else; it just makes it a lot more expensive than need be. The information I've read from my research indicates that 1.2 to 1.5 grams of dried maqui berries provides the equivalent of the active compounds in the 60 mg of maqui berry extract used in the studies; 1/2 tsp of the powder will give you between 1 - 1.5 grams.
I did read one account on reddit of someone else who got results on day one, and another account in a product review where the user had started out taking a tablespoon each day and got results in 3 days, so apparently I'm not the only one who got fast results, though the studies assessed results after a month, so it could take that long. I hope you get positive results soon - good luck!
