Al amyloidosis treatment after 6 years of remission
I am an 83 year old female and will be starting treatment of dexamethasone and Daratumumba along with Benadryl and Tylenol
I am wondering about what to expect with this medication
Has anyone my age been through this regime?

I have multiple myeloma and amyloidosis. My treatment for this was 4 drugs - Daratumumab, Dexamethasone, Cytoxan, and Velcade. These were very strong drugs and the 6 months of treatment was hell. You are only taking 2 of the drugs so will not have the same affects I did with 4 drugs. Some of the side effects were diarhhea, increased appetite, taste buds screwed up, and hearing problems. Also very tired and weak. Be sure you have diarhhea medication on hand if case you need it. When I was too weak to walk to bathroom, my daughter used my office chair to roll me over to the toilet. Also got neuropathy from treatment. Chicken broth is good to drink if you have taste bud problems. Everyone I talked to say that was the only thing that tasted good. Currently I am on monthly daratumumab and take benadryl and tylenol before I get my shot. I am 85.
