Senior male, bad diverticulosis, tortuous colon, serious constipation, have taken Linzess 290 and frequent water enemas to defecate. Any suggestions?

trying the olive oil!
chronic constipation ....due to narrow intestine caused by a screwed up tumor removal
specialist directs me to take daily Metamucil..........but BC Cancer Agency SAYS NO!......
who do i listen to ? ...........do not want another blockage!

Cancer Agency
Do not take any product that will increase stool size such as bulk forming agents
that contain psyllium (e.g. Metamucil)

Bowel medications
You may notice your bowel movements are smaller and occur less often. To prevent
constipation, you will need to take medications/laxatives to have regular bowel
movements that are easy to pass.
Consult with your doctor before taking any bowel medications or changing your
diet to deal with your symptoms.
You may need to adjust the type or amount of medication that works best for you.
Speak with your doctor or a pharmacist for help with your medications.

I will try tablespoon of olive oil in addition to the Linzess 290 and two stool softeners that I take daily.

@william1543 I take a teaspóon a day for about a year now. In December of 2024 I was hospitalized for a SBO due to adhesions. I was struggling with taking miralax all the time, changing my diet etc. Finally a friend told me about olive oil. I have taken it daily since. I stopped for about a month once and ended up with an SBO again. Thankfully I recognized the symptoms this time and started my olive oil again, I had to take miralax that time though to help as well as go to an all clear liquid diet. I am back to olive oil daily and no problems.
Good luck. I hope it works for you also.
Ps my nutritionist at Mayo also gave the ok for the olive oil and I found studies on it as well

@sI will try a teaspoon of pure olive oil daily and hope that it helps. The Linzess 290, stool softener, Dulcolax, and warm water enemas are tiresome and give me intestinal gas, bloating, and diarrhea, but at least cause a bowel movement
