I was just diagnosed with High Factor Vlll blood clotting disorder. After being hospitalized from a saddle pulmonary embolism caused by DVT. At 60 years old, I was never aware of any blood issues. I now take blood thinners and will probably be on them for life.

I'm so sorry that you had to experience that. It's not fun. Although, I find it interesting that this happened at 60 years old with no sign of earlier issues?

Some people have mentioned a genetic test, but I'm not sure what that is. I was one of the first people dx'd in my area when the elevated F8 activity test was first available.

@vls, welcome. Like @carriebythesea said, it was interesting to read that your blood clotting issue was discovered later in life. I'm glad that it never caused any issues up to then and that you and your doctor(s) are now aware to avoid issues going forward. Besides taking blood thinners were you told of any other precautions or lifestyle tips that can help avoid blood clots and deep vein thrombosis (DVT)?
