Chronic Back Pain for Years
6 back surgeries (extensive cervical and lumbar fusions) with neurological complications. Left with chronic pain. Accident happened in Nursing career 1992 and worked with first fusions until 1999 (failed fusions). At my age, and as a former nurse educator, I never wanted to had to rely on medication/s for the severe pain. Having thoroughly exhausted exploring sites using non-pharmaceutical methods, using psychological methods, biofeedback, trying to accept my limitations, i.e., I still believe somewhere...out there...is hope. The strong medicine has caused gastroparesis, further complicating my health problems. They are too numerous to write and I will not focus on them. I am looking for "help" and guidance. If I can be of assistance to anyone throughout their trials, (perhaps similar to some of what I have gone through), I will.

A few things can help you to reduce your chronic back pain such as ideal sleeping and sitting posture, massage therapy, using recliner chair, avoid lifting extremely heavyweight, escape slouching and hunching while working on the computer, physiotherapy, medicine, exercise etc. My wife was suffering from chronic back pain 1 year ago. The doctor advised to use good massage recliner chair, do some exercise, eat healthy food and right sitting position.
Thank you ... Peggy
My orthopedist gave me a little book named "The Back Book". It has exercises to do to stretch the back, heal sciatica/etc and prevent it in the first place. Most of the exercise involve curling the tail bone under, holding it there for awhile and flexing the muscles so that they hold the back in the right position. Peggy
@anny705 Yes those are all good tips I also have chronic back pain one thing I do that helps alot is chair exercise you can find on u tube afterwards I feel good pain gone for awhile
Hello!! I know this is totally random@ wsh66, and I hope it's ok that I am messaging you, I just happened to come across some of your posts when I was googling info regarding the morphine pump trial, and was wondering if I could maybe ask you some questions? I just joined this page in order to try to message you actually but couldn't figure out how to do it. I would be so appreciative!!! Thank you!!!
Certainly ask away. You can ask him this open for him or you can ask through a private message via this page. I know they use morphine in the pump however my pump uses Dilaudid which is much stronger and more concentrated than morphine and has far fewer side effects.
Back pain may occur due to various reasons such as injuries, wrong sitting posture, bad sleeping position, slouching, hunching, stress, over smoking, long journey, etc. I am a back pain patient from last 2 years. My doctor gave me to do a few back exercises and maintain a good sitting posture. After doing that exercise, I am now quite free from back pain. This website also helps me to learn the possible causes of back pain and how to overcome them https://www.mattressinsight.com/causes-of-back-pain/ . As a patient, I suggest everyone consult a doctor for better treatment.
Lately, I've had sciatica again, and pain in the left side of my neck and shoulder. I'm doing the back exercises for the sciatica, and I'm stretching my neck and flexing the muscles to hold the bones in the long position rather than scrunched (not a very scientific term). It's helping for now, but I'm looking for a doctor to examine my neck as I haven't had pain there before. I'm on the coast in Delaware and there aren't many doctors here ... some gave up their practice because it became so tedious to do an avalanche of government paperwork every day. Peggy

Go to a decent massage therapist or physical therapist and ask them to do a light massage/myfascial release. It's amazing the relief it can provide. They can also tell you if they think your other issues are muscle/nerve related that they can treat or if you would need to find another doctor. Might be worth trying and it would be much less expensive.
Yes - I try to remember to get a massage once a month but it ends up being about once every 6 months. It too, helps while I'm there, but as soon as I go home, the effect is worn off and I'm on fire again. I give up and take the capsules. Peggy
