I don't know if it will ever go away but it does change. My pain eventually went away and replaced with numbness and other complications.
Take care,
Jake
@heisenberg34 I apologize because I don't know. It's worse when I'm sitting like now at my computer or trying to relax after dinner watching TV. The hardest time is during the night. The rest of the time I'm so busy I just shelf it. I give God thanks that I have come through some tough situations and I offer my prayers to those who suffer more. My neurologist feels being active is super helpful; being a former runner I now walk about 2 1/2 miles everyday. I'm sure it helps me.
Neuropathy research is being done but as far as I know for Diabetics and those on Chemo only.
You are keenly body aware. My neurologist believes that my neuropathy is related to my celiac disease which, fortunately, has not affected my digestive system, but rather my nerves. I was doing very well with a gluten-free diet to the point where I hardly noticed my neuropathy at all. But then I had a small surgery for a lesion removed off my shin (it was benign), and, at same time, extremely cold weather and snow came to NYC. I believe those events made my neuropathy worse. My neurologist said I need to wear warmer footwear. I am hoping that with temperature moderation in spring, my neuropathy will improve again. I believe being active can help and I certainly did too much sitting around while we had bitterly cold temps. If I went out my hands would numb up in short time. Perhaps relocating to a warmer part of US is on the horizon. We will see... And like you, I embrace the importance of prayer.
I keep reading about this awful condition which I have with pain and burning in my legs, and nothing cures it. Resignation to it makes me feel like giving up but I won't. I walk, have changed my diet and take ALA and Magnesium glyconate. Use CBD on my feet at night and wear socks. Not a charming bedtime attire but its helping so far!
@lgort5 HI this is Quiet river I have the same problem started about the same time as your.As it attacked me I attacked it. There is no cure at this time and I don't see any in the near future. I found Physical excersize works the best. I found walking and standing on my toes gets the blood flowing to that area more and the helps me even at night. Infer red and a vibrator on the feet and ankles behind the knees and upper leg gets more blood flowing there. and with the more blood the more oxygen gets to these areas. My unsderstanding of neurophy it starts from not enough oxygen to the nerves. and that has to be low blood flow. It has helped my balance also using Blue emu and vicks vapor rub on my feet and ankles works tapping your feet to music also helps also. CBD didn't work for me at all. the only side effects I found was some sore mussel until they get used to it. Good my reasoning isn't a cure but works wonders for some. I no longer have pain or burning. just some sore spots for a while. Keep up what you are doing it sounds like it is working quite well for you.

@quietriver thank you..I empathize with you and glad you found what works well for you. I also roll toes and tap!! It certainly is an individual condition. I find I need to continually read what has and hasn't helped others. I do wish the medical profession would not push Gabapentin and Lyrica. Its disheartening to know it doesn't ever get cured but at least I know now how to manage it...most of the time.
No.... Mine started during covid...whether its covid related or the excess drinking during covid or ??? There are good days and bad...
Better shoes help to keep you on your feet longer:
New Balance 1080's are like walking on marshmallows
Hokias I like the Clifford 9
Trying the Skeecher Slip ons go with Max-Comfort walking shoes.. comfort more like Hokia's but roughly half the cost on Amazon
But nothing beat New Balance 1080's for soft walking
I tried gabapin(sp?) and once I got to a dose that actually helps it made me unsteady on my feet..I quit it...
I tried foot cream pain removers...helps a little ...helps to sleep.. I don't need it anymore
R-ALA to be honest I think it makes it worse for me.... But I do take it off and on and only for about 30 days and take a break...
Watch out for B vitamins...Some help and too much makes it worse..
I've tried everything... even those foot shockers you put your feet on
Heat makes mine worse... the cool tile and wood floors in my house feel good lol
Your best friend and help is this.........Learn to adjust to the pain...tune it out!... and short breaks off your feet
We went too Disney Land one year and Universal Studio and walked 20 miles that day....ever so often I would need to sit down and everyone understood and needed a break too lol,, If I have like 5-15 min break(depending how bad it gets) I'm ready to go, yes mine subsides quickly ,,, it didn't always do that but I've probably did/quit enough good things(like drinking) and taking the right vitamins that its helped in someway..
But so you understand...in the summer when I mow the grass mine can get bad.. enough where sitting doesn't help, I have to lay down... whether its a circulation thing or not ? I don't know.. but laying down is when its bad and its like 15-20 min before it goes away...
So mine isn't any worse or better than most I've just learn to deal with it...

One last time....
For me what is a trigger is Sugar!...Chocolate..etc.,
And no I don't have diabetes ..my glucose runs around 80-90
But you let me a bag of gummy bears and I'm in pain...my walking time is shortened and I have night pain(sleeping)
So watch your sugar..

@casd57 Quiet river here I had been border Line diabetic since 1972. However: I still like my cookies cake and candy alot. I found the Apple cider Vingar can cure 2 dibeatus in six weeks if you follow their pla. That is 2 tbls of Acv and 4. oz water and drinking 2 oz 30 minuets before each meal lowers your blood sugar. But you have to leave the sugars alone. Thats My big down fall I give all my sweets for a few weeks and back at them again and maybe the reason I have Neurophy.
Looking over the various creams and ointments, I have seen some recommend capsaicin, 0.1%. I ordered a product called Capzasem. I have applied it to my feet a few times. The only thing I notice is an intense burning feeling that follows me into the bedroom. When I applied it to the back of my thighs, the same feeling occurred. Then, after going to bed, I noticed that the back of my thighs felt like they were on a really hot surface. When I turned on my side, the feeling intensified to the point where I had to turn back on my back. That feeling of being really hot was a bit more tolerable. By early morning, in both instances, the feeling of burning or extreme heat dissipated. Anyone else ever experience this? Possible allergic side effect?

@casd57 I totally agree. I often say that diet is the least popular and most effective cure for just about everything. I also think refined carbohydrates, e.g. white rice, white flour, work in the body the same way. I've made incremental changes to my diet for the last 7 years, and it's done wonders for my inflammatory issues.

But what ie everyone using for relief? ANY relief? I use Frankincense, Myrrh and Heliochrysm salve from Vitality. It does help. Not 100% but helps.
