The very first medication I was administered for osteoporosis, Prolia, started my hair loss after the 2nd injection. I had 3 total.
One of the side effects is hair loss and this is because its mechanism of action is to stop the osteoclasts by interfering with RANKL.
I learned that the anagen phase of hair growth is dependent on RANKL.
However on top of that in my case the Prolia triggered the autoimmune condition LPP.
I think if you look up Fosamax and side effects you will see hair loss as one them.
I was just thinking today, it’s been 6 years since this started, and I’m still losing hair. The hair on my crown is almost see thru now. I try not to let it get me down, some days I just can’t help but feel low.
I hope your case resolves and the hair loss will stop.
Are you taking any of the usual treatments for the condition?
