Henry here. >>Do I need to continue to worry about AFIB after successful MICRA pacemaker? Background: At age 79 - 80 I had asymptomatic Aflutter, and after various cardioversion treatments, I had a failed ablation that resolved as AFIB. I had 60 year history of low HR (~40bpm resting) which dropped to resting 30-35 bpm, though asymptomatic except for rate (competitive masters swimmer, Nuclear Treadmill test OK and 13+ METS, EF 68. Now 81 yrs. the MICA ventricular pacemaker puts me at 60bpm and accompanies rising to 168bpm in swim practice. MiCRA interrogations all A+. AFIB on EKG remains, but no apparent other symptoms, though I swim slower as I age. Regular checkups with EP and Cardiologist (CAD test indicated but asymptomatic; No focused concern for AFIB. Is that reasonable?

@henry81 I would question the 168 BPM while swimming as that is well beyond the safe upper limit normally ascribed to a near-90-year-old heart. It is more likely that you had an arrhythmia, probably AF, that would account for that high rate.
