socks and neuropathy please read
I have neuropathy in my feet and in the tips of my fingers. It bothers me tremendously it hurts, stings burns, etc. The strange thing about it is, I feel like I have socks on and cannot take them off. It feels like sometimes they are too tight and hurting the end of my toes. I can push my skin down and it helps sometimes. I am not crazy, this is true. Does anyone else have this problem? It is an awful feeling all the time. Never heard anyone else say this. Don't know what king of neuropathy I have. Fay

@faybe I just started taking ALA but only 600mg each day. Some in the morning with breakfast and the balance with dinner. Not sure if it's helping or not. Doctor prescribed gabapentin which i refuse to take. Latest challenge is the rash and itching on my feet and toes. I'm taking Claritin and using benedryl spray. Cool foot baths throughout the day help too. When will this end?
@botterd
I have taken 600mg ALA for many years just in the morning before breakfast. I'm going to check with my Doc to see if a second dosage would help. I refuse to take gabapentin it makes me crazy. If you say to the Doc, you have pain anywhere the first thing they recommend is gabapentin which, is the substitute for Opioids.
Love this site I'm now checking out reconditions for socks and shoes. Keep the conversations going!

1 Reaction@saj91 I stopped taking the ALA because it can cause diarrhea which I've been fighting since my chemo began 5 months ago. The chemo has ended but not the diarrhea. Ask 3 things I was taking to help with the neuropathy can result in diarrhea. My lumpectomy is tomorrow and I'm hoping for few nodes removed. My hair is coming back but the neuropathy, rash and diarrhea don't seem to be getting better.

1 Reaction@saj91 Gabapentin makes me too dizzy. Compression socks help a bit. The more extra wrapping on feet just adds a little more comfort.

1 ReactionI have a great deal of pain in my legs and feet. I found BIO-OIL by chance on AMAZON and bought several bottles. I take a round cotton pad ( buy at any drug store in a pack of one or two) drip the BIO-OIL on the cotton pad a rub it on the bottom of my feet/putting my sock on halfway, then do my heal and pull the sock on all the…do both feet. In about 20-30 minutes the pain in my feet goes away for about 6 hours, I just rub more on. As for my lower legs I have found some relief using CeraVe “Diabetics’ Dry Skin Relief” and also Dollar General’s “FRUIT OF THE EARTH” VITAMIN E SKIN CARE CREAM IN A SMALL PLASTIC WHITE JAR and rub it in on the top of my feet and on my legs which helps with the edema I have from swollen feet & legs. Hope and pray these products help you, this disease is horrible and so far no cure!! I keep praying for a breakthrough and I seem to suffer more when I eat chocolate candy of any kind!! David
