Constipation with continued stomach issues. What to do?

Posted by crazycat3us @crazycat3us, Jan 6 10:43am

After feeling sick and nauseous for 2 weeks I went to me Dr. She did an xray and my system was fully backed up. Three days of magnesium citrate. Two weeks of miralax a few times a day and stool softeners. Now I've been advised to add Metamucil. I have had soft bowel movements, but it doesn't feel enough to clear out. I'm still having stomach discomfort and passing small amounts. I can't get into a GI Dr. Until March. I'm tired of being tired and sick.

@larust8 DOES THE FIBER NOT BLOCK YOU?

@peterose I think , for me, the fiber helps keep things moving better on a day to day basis. Fresh fruit especially is easy for me to digest. Cooked veggies work best but I do like to have a salad once or twice a week. If I’m feeling sluggish I have a day of soft foods, oatmeal with a chopped apple cooked in and veggie soup for dinner so everything is cooked thoroughly and soft. Btw, I have been a vegetarian for 47 years, since I was 20, so maybe that’s why I have a higher tolerance for vegetable fiber? I do definitely eat smaller portions than I used to do.

We appear to have exactly the same issues!........and we follow the same attempts to control the challenges...i shall continue to post and go to your link .........I cannot figure out why there is not a combined stool softener / laxative that can be taken long term?

THANK YOU FOR THE INFO!
