I started HRT in my late 40s, already having osteoporosis, and though I've been using for a few years now, have had no increase in bone density. I think there are many factors whether it will help or not.

Had you been told that hrt would rebuild bone?

@tkdesign: I also was diagnosed with osteoporosis in my early 40s and started ERT at 48. I didn't gain bone but I didn't lose bone either after starting ERT. I was able to maintain what I already had. Also, my gynecologist told me that there were studies that indicated that ERT actually improved the "integrity" (the word she used) of the bone itself. As a side note, I have fallen quite a few times in the past 20 years and my primary care doctor has said, "Well we know your bones are in a lot better shape than they flag on a DEXA scan."
