Been on Orgovyx for 6 months; have another 12 months ahead of me, if not 18 months.

What have you done for hot flashes?

Hot flashes are nothing compared to the sweat I constantly have from the top of my head to the tips of my toes 24 hours/day. I am always damp and must sleep with no covers so that the sweat evaporates rather than wet my bedding. I keep getting fungal itches wherever I am covered enough to prevent rapid evaporation. This leaves me cold all the time as the evaporation cools me. After 6 months of no ADT it is beginning to reduce in volume of sweat.

@pesquallie There is nothing normal about that! What have you tried so far?

Jeff on this site suggested the EmbrWave 2 which I have had for about 3 weeks. Still waiting for a fuller benefit but I for one am desperate to get this discomfort under control. Yes I also have been wearing T shirts with zippered overshirts for Colorado winters. NO sweaters. It IS a big deal.

Megace sounds like an interesting choice. I had depo-provera Shots every 3 months and it really helped reduce my hot flashes.

Others have mentioned Oxybutynin Which doesn’t seem to have as serious possible side effects as Megace

Megace seems to have some side effect issues.

Megace (megestrol acetate) is an effective treatment for hot flashes caused by hormone suppression therapy in prostate cancer patients, with studies showing an up to 85% reduction in frequency. It is a progestin often used at low doses (e.g., 20 mg/day) to manage these symptoms. Common side effects of Megace include increased appetite, weight gain, high blood pressure, and increased risk of blood clots.

@jeffmarc
The dosage of Megace for appetite stimulation ranges from 160mg to 1600mg per day well above the 20mg that I take. After 13 months of ADT and 8 months Megace my weight has not changed and my blood pressure is better than it has been in years. I also exercise more. Others have reported no side effects

Try configuring it with these instructions

Click the bottom left Feel button, scroll down to hot flashes and click it. Scroll down the hot flash cooler five click it, click on “hot flash cooler five” and hit start session. Click the Now round button where you hit start and it will stop the session. Now go back to the main feel screen. Hot flash cooler 5 Should be first in the list, hit the three dots in the right corner, Click on edit and make the temperature level maximum a five. Hit. Save Session. Want to repeat this for all night cool. Click the bottom left Feel button, scroll down to hot flashes and click it Pick all night cool, set The number of hours you want And start it. Then stop it and go back to the main feel screen all night cool Should be the first thing listed. Click the three dots select edit put the cooling on maximum all over to five and hit save session.

Now You have to set the buttons for what you want. To do that you go to settings/session presets. Click on “dotted button” and pick the hot flash five minute. It will probably be second in the list. Select it and hit OK.
Click blank button And select all night cool. Hit ok. DONE!

You now are configured hit the button with the raised dot two times and it will give you five minutes of cooling. Try hitting it the moment you start to feel the hot flash. It will come on a little bit and then will not get so intense.. When you’re ready to go to bed, double click the blank button and it will send cold waves. Occasionally you won’t even notice it at night, but it should stop flashes.

You can always reduce the cooling by following the above instructions.

I see my urologist next week and will talk to him some more. Last time he had no explanation for my soaking sweats except that my Lupron seemed to be effective for too long. I have always had a relatively low testosterone level, and I seem to be extraordinarily sensitive to low testosterone. After 6 months without Lupron the sweats are slowly becoming weaker.
