Is anyone using the Menostar patch?

I've just been prescribed Menostar estradiol ultra low dose patch. Is anyone here using this to support bone health? Thank you.

I have been on Menostar for 5 months for osteoporosis. I just started taking 50 mcg of progesterone cream. Since I don't have a uterus, I thought taking it alone would be alright. The medication insert seems to say that even with a uterus you can take it alone. I still have my ovaries, cervix and one tube. I have a history of endometriosis. In the last month, I have had right abdominal pain and an enlarged right tube. I'm hoping that the progesterone will help this. It sure helps me sleep. Good luck with the Menostar.

Thanks for your reply! Are you taking the brand name Menostar? Have you noticed any problematic side effects?

I still have my uterus. My doctor prescribed 14 tabs progestin once every 3 months.

How does the progesterone cream work? Is that systemic or local?

Thanks again.

@chikris Possibly some increased intermittent ankle pain and fatigue but I experienced both before starting Menostar. I also started exercising at home around the time I started Menostar. This is ultra low dose and intended for bone support rather than other purposes. If Menostar does stabilize my bone density, I will be thrilled!

I've researched Menostar but it's extremely expensive and not covered by Medicare insurance. Has anyone found a generic Menostar patch? It would be very beneficial for those of us who were deprived HRT for so many years.

According to my pharmacy Menostar does not have a generic version. I believe there is another patch option which is low dose but not as low. I use another insurance rather than Medicare.

Is this patch not recommended for women who are years past menopause? I am 76 and have been told I can't take estrogen supplements because of my age.

I was prescribed this for osteoporosis in my 70s. Hopefully will stabilize my bone density.

Many docs told me that as well.
