@cutshaw01 Yikes! That is WAY...
out of my realm. I don't know that I have ever heard of this. Where did you learn about it? After a little searching, I learned that it used to be used, but the body develops tolerance and dosages need to be adjusted constantly. Nitrates exist naturally in leafy green vegetables, celery and beets, but trials of these are not conclusive in providing long term management. Finally, the one frequently used nitrate is nitrglycerin for angina (heart pain) and I can tell you from personal experience that it has the side effect of monstrous headaches.
I found one study that concluded the evidence wasn't strong for jumping into using nitrates for BP control for most people

@sueinmn thank you very much. I take a couple of pills for blood pressure and someone suggested super beets. I was just wondering. My blood pressure is under control but someone said the natural way might be better. Thanks for your help!
