My 90 year-old mother has been recently diagnoses with a leaking Mitral Valve. She doesn't want to undergo any type of invasive procedures for a more thorough diagnosis. What is the best way to help slow down the progression? Is there a way?

@implantdoc91 None that I know of. Strenuous exercise might exacerbate the condition and put stress on the valve with the increased pressure and flow volume, but other than that, keep eating well, resting properly, avoiding anger and extreme emotion if possible....that's about it. I doubt a physician would want to start her on metoprolol or a calcium channel blocker to make her heart beat less forcefully. That might hasten falls, which is a no-no.
