Looking for affordable hotel recommendations for Mayo, Rochester

Posted by apainter @apainter, Jan 5 6:44pm

Hi all!
First-time Mayo Clinic patient here. I was told to plan a 5–7 day stay. Looking for lodging that’s affordable, clean and safe. Not fancy, just comfortable and not sketchy.
Any recommendations are appreciated!
Thank you!
Amy

I visited the Mayo last week and stayed at the Residence Inn Mayo Clinic South and had a wonderful experience and would highly recommend it. It about 7-10 minutes from the downtown Mayo directly across from the mall. It had a free dedicated shuttle where you can reserve your time slot. Each room has full kitchen and bedroom. The property only 3 years old. It has a heated garage, free breakfast and has a new and beautiful vibe. Most people including myself go to Mayo for something serious looking for answers. I found this hotel filled with a ton of Mayo patients. It was loving and great place to stay. The staff and drivers made my week. The hotel has a Traders Joe and a Natural Grocery two blocks from it plus was about 10 minutes from Marcus Cinemas. As we all know the Mayo can be very serious place and stressful. I found this hotel to be relaxing and wonderful getting away from the daily doom and gloom of my tests and medical visits. When I return to the Mayo this my Rochester hotel. They even gave me a Mayo Clinic discount. I know I sound like a commercial but I am simply someone who went to the Mayo last week and this hotel helped me a wonderful Mayo experience. Highly recommend!!

Hello, I will be visiting Mayo in Rochester in mid-February.
I would love some hotel recommendations.
Does Mayo have preferred hotels and/or do any hotels offer special rates for patients at Mayo?
It would be great to be connected via skywalk or tunnel, but not absolutely necessary; a short walk would be fine.
I am considering the Centerstone Plaza Hotel. The rates are good, they have a shuttle, and offer free parking. Any thoughts or experience with them?
Alternately, I am looking at the Kahler Grand Hotel simply for its proximity to Mayo. Is construction in the area completed or is it difficult to get around?
I am absolutely open to other suggestions. Any thoughts or feedback would be greatly appreciated!

@essablue I just stayed at Kohler Grand Hotel,
It was a very nice Hotel, with direct access to the mayo "subway". Which is a pedestrian walkway to all the different mayo buildings you'll most likely have appointments to.

I also stayed at the Even Hotel when having a surgical procedure done at Mayo St. Marys hospital. Another very nice Hotel.
