Eating disorders treatment in Northern VA or North Carolin suggestions
I have an eating disorder called ARFID(avoidant restrictive food intake disorder) and I’m looking for treatment programs either in the northern Virginia area (where I live) or it could be further out if residential—or in the Raleigh-Durham-Chapel Hill North Carolina area (where my mom lives). Could be day programs or live in. The point is quality.
My case is pretty severe- I’m in the hospital now with a nasal feeding tube because I lost so much weight that I got very sick as well as severely anxious. I have all kinds of things going on- it’s complicated. Depression, anxiety, my father just died on Thanksgiving, and I was diagnosed with gastroparesis in May of 2025 so I started severely restricting my diet so much that I became afraid to eat almost anything. Then I saw a specialist in November who said I probably don’t have it but I wasn’t able to take the full 4 hour gastric emptying test because I am in the hospital (it was scheduled for last week).
I’m happy to hear of anyone’s experiences with eating disorders and your recovery if you’d like to share.
Thank you so much!

That sounds very distressing. I have no knowledge of this condition. I wish you all the best. I often suggest Duke since they are near me and I have used them for quite a few years.
