Lexapro withdrawal

Posted by freefromdrug1 @freefromdrug1, Apr 19, 2017

I am currently weening from 10 mg lexapro after 15 years of being on the drug. I was put on this drug due to post partum. Having a difficult time getting into psychiatrist due to wait list. I've been weening for 2months and taking .5 instead of 10 mg daily. I was doing fine until 2 weeks ago when severe anxiety hit, no appetite, flu like symptoms and very emotional. Doctor prescribed xanax to help with anxiety and I take only as needed but honestly I'm afraid to take another drug. I see an phych nurse this week and a holistic doctor as well. Taking a multi vitamin, fish oi, B12 and vitamin D as well. I'm trying to figure out if my severe anxiety is due to withdrawal or if I'm prone to anxiety attacks because I've never had anxiety before.

I made a huge mistake and stopped taking Lexapro and Wellbutrin a week ago. Now I have a severe migraine and I’m feeling nauseous and dehydrated. What should I do? Should I go to the hospital?

I think I’d better stop watching Lexipro withdrawal videos, they are scaring me to death. Here I am crying because I’m scared of what I am seeing.

Get out of that clickhole -- remember those videos are there to scare you -- think about the motivations behind the creators....especially those who are simply posting their personal experience. Remember - people without symptoms (or with manageable ones - are not going to make videos about how easy their Lexapro taper has been. Be aware, but don't be consumed by what you read on the internet.

@farabella As @youngsally has shared-these videos are to scare you and try not to believe everything you read online or see in videos. There are those that use the internet for malicious reasons and they want to scare others. The experience of others may not be yours. Try not to caught up in the drama of another. Being repetitive-we are NOT all wired the same.

Thank you so much. Don’t understand why anyone would want tobscare others, maybe attention? Don’t get it, we should help each other, not do harm! Thanks again. You’ve encouraged me! God bless you!

It affected my sugars as well. It took awhile but they’re now back on track. Hang in there! I posted another reply to you I received a message saying it would not post due to me saying something similar. Who knows!

You're welcome. People who are scared/upset/uncomfortable post - for one reason or another - but probably because they want people to know - and possibly looking for validation/support.

I guess you are right. All it did for me is scare me half to death. After 1 week of 5 mg of Lexipro, I need to go down to 5 mg every other day, and I’m already having anxiety about it because of what people have said.

Thank you young sally. I appreciate that so much. Can Lexipro taper be easy? I need some support today, I started out weaning from 20 mg for 2weeks, then 10, now 5 for a week, now tomorrow I go to 2.5 for a week then one week of every other day, and I am scared, very scared and to make things worse, my special needs son is acting out in the mornings, becoming difficult when it’s time to get on his bus. He is much bigger than I am, and way stronger and I am so upset this morning. Also, I am gaining weight on this Lexipro, my pants are getting tight. I haven’t gained weight in years and years, and this on a keto diet. On Lexipro, my blood sugars are getting lower and lower and I have to get off. Anyone have anything encouraging to say to me?

Please google Kelly brogan. She has so much good stuff on weening and how to make it less difficult. I think you’re weening too fast. I start my ween on the 28th and I do half, which is 5, for 6 weeks then cut by 10% every few weeks. I’m also being guided by a homeopathic dr. You need to add nutriention and have your labs looked at by a holistic md with experience in heliping people ween.

For all my 15 years of living I have lived with depression. I always have done good in school but I have had 2 good friends my whole life. This past year my friend and I were jumped walking home from hanging out and he has not talked to me ever since. After this I soon became hooked on nicotine as well as smoking weed through a vape pen. My addiction became so severe that I was institutionalized in May due to my refusal to attend school and eat. I have now been clean for almost 5 months but I stopped using my prescribed escitalopram about 2 weeks ago and seem to exhibit extreme depression that I have never felt before. I tried taking 2 or 3 of the pills but they do not help. I have considered breaking my sobriety but I know there must be another option as I want to reinvent myself due to transferring to a new co-ed school. If anyone has experienced anything I have and has overcome please reach out and share some advice as I am in a time of dire need of it.
