Timing of aromatase inhibitors (AIs) - taking day or night?
I've seen many messages about anastrozole, but does anyone prefer to take this in the morning or evening? I'm wondering if side effects are less via day or night?

I’m taking exemestane too. I used to take it in the morning and experienced few side effects. Now I take it during lunch. With food it seems so much better. I take a break from the med one or two days a week (without my oncologist’s approval) and it seems a lot better. I take my blood pressure med at night with Loratadine. I’m not sure if loratadine helps alleviate side effects from exemestane as well. But so far it’s working for me.

1 ReactionMy pharmacist suggest always take each medicine separately 4 hours apart with food if possible.
I have completed chemo for stage 1a breast cancer . Lumpectomy completed 7 mos ago. I completed radiation and am now to begin Anastrozole 1 mg. Curious if less side effects appear in AM or PM?
I take mine in the am. No side effects except the start of osteoporosis after 3 years of taking it..
I take mine in the morning. No side effects other than Osteo decline. I am 2 1/2 years in and I am getting ready to start Prolia injections twice a year for my osteopenia and osteoporosis. I should mention I am very cautious with diet, routinely exercise, and take supplements as needed. I too had lobular breast cancer stage one a and invasive ductal cancer stage one a.

1 ReactionI found that taking it in the morning was best. It caused me insomnia, so morning was a no brainer for me.

1 ReactionAfter dinner. Along with other supplements for hair loss (minoxidil) and joint pain (glucosamine). I was already taking calcium for bone loss. At bedtime I take melatonin for hot flashes. The combo is working, thank goodness. 🤞

1 ReactionI started taking it in AM but the hot flashes were horrible all day - did this for almost a year. So at my appt when we talked about side effects I was having - I said I hate them all but right now the hot flashes were the worst - so it was suggested to take it at night (yes night sweats but a tower fan on low helps immensely!! I've been taking it PM for almost 3 years now and it has really helped - I may get an occasional one now and then but nothing like before. So I can check that off the list of side effects I have on anastrozole as it's manageable now.

My oncologist prescribed Prolia when I was just starting anastrozole and with only a hint of Osteopenia.
One six month dose was all I could tolerate. The aches and pains were terrible but the mental side effects were too much. Changed oncologists and she agreed I didn’t need it as I wasn’t even on the scale of bone loss.
Please do your own research on Prolia. It isn’t something to introduce in your body without knowing what it can do to you.
