Hi. Yes, have moderate hearing loss tried hearing aids and cannot use as also have hyperacusis - so can't hear half what my spouse says but can hear a pin drop as an example. Had tinnitus, clicking, etc. on and off for many many years but not a huge problem.. except for few years ago when either that or something else, thought could hear neighbours music etc went on for a long time til they were not even home and could hear it.. long story short I now have Musical Ear Syndrome/musical tinnitus and it is almoste 24/7 .. it is mixed with sort of tinnitus sounds like tennis balls in a dryer. I checked into it on Internet and agree: notes of music from nursery rhymces years ago; hymns; National Anthems (usa, canada, uk)... if I see on calendar it is someones birthday marked, yep, hear HappyBirthdayToYou... Thing is it is not a whole melody but from 2 to 7 notes repeated over and over again. I put my ipad with relaxation and medication videos on next to my pillow... sometimes the perceived music/beats I hear are louder. Thing is I have a list of physical illnesses am dealing with but this is enough to drive a person over the edge! No cure, yes it's our brain. 🙁

@lacy2 thank you so much for responding. I had never heard ofMES and felt like i was the only person out here that was dealing with this issue. It can get very distressing. My tinnitus sounds are frogs in the forest, loud motor, and music. Ive found that if i concentrate really hard on one other sound, the music will fade into the background. I know i make the music sounds worse because i catch myself singing along.
And yes, there are days when you think you cannot take this anymore!
