Has anyone treated their osteoporosis without drugs?
Hello all … I am a 68 y/o lady, 5’1 and 115lbs. I have always been petite and of small stature. I recently went to a new physician who ran a battery of tests on me, which all came back great, except for my Dexa scan which came back with a T score of -3.8. The physician immediately wanted to write me a script for Fosamax. After reading about it, I am freaked out. Here’s a bit of background on me. I have never smoked, don’t drink and am fairly active. I still work part-time and love being active. Have any of you tried to combat osteoporosis from a “natural” healing angle? I have NEVER taken any meds, gosh I never even have the need for aspirin, as I don’t experience headaches. Looking for some input from actual people. It’s way too easy for a physician to write a script as I truly believe they are in cahoots with the pharmaceutical industry. My apologies if I have upset anyone. Any information, experience or feedback you can offer is greatly appreciated. Thank you for reading my post.

@nycmusic, were you still on Prolia when you started taking Ultra Bone-up and Regular Bone-up? Are you taking these supplements along with Vital Proteins Collagen Peptide?
@markymarcus What breakfast protein shake do you use? I would like to start it and add your vitamins. Thank you!
@yds you may have me confused with someone else…I have never taken the meds/supplements that you mention…I hope you find the answers you seek.
I understand your distrust of the Dr who wants you on fosamax. I experienced the same thing. Medicines are what Drs know. Every hammer looks for a nail but it may be that he genuinely believes it best. I said no because of risks associated with taking it. Sudden fractures and more. I would suggest you look into calcium citrate, Vitamin D, weight bearing exercises, and there are other supplements that are supposed to be bone healthy. Find out about them but be careful the supplement market is full of unproven jazzed up claims.
@nycmusic, my apologies. I think it was dbivins. Thanks!

During chemo I stopped prolia and waited until my next Dexascan. I should have started back right away but I chose to wait. When I received results of -4 on the Dexascan, I immediately went back onProlia, and began to research what else could be done. My sister is a great researcher and found BoneUp. Right now, I am getting a dental implant, so I went off Prolia for four months, then had jaw surgery in September. I just had the implant screw put in my jaw, so at four months again. I will wait until the all clear in May, to get the crown, and then I will be back on the Prolia. It will be 13 months later that I start back.

1 Reaction@rete new chapter bone supplement is a bit cheaper…comes in a version of tiny tabs…recommended dosage is 6 tabs, but you can choose your dosage…available on Amazon. Some people choose another route, taking single supplements instead of a combo, to get precise amounts of what they want.
@yds Yes, I continue to take the Collagen Peptide with my morning coffee or tea. I see lots of improvements in my joints from it. My doctor did bloodwork to make sure I wasn't getting too much D in May, but it was perfect!
I’m here looking for natural ways to help improve my osteoporosis
