Anyone experience pain with Y90 treatment?

I had Y-90 radioembolization to the liver for breast cancer a month ago tomorrow. I have experienced extreme pain, have had every scan known, and spent a week in the hospital with no answers. Finally yesterday I went to a new GI doctor. She suggested an endoscopy finally after the hospital said it was not necessary, but of course we have to wait 2 weeks. She thinks perhaps ulcers from the procedure.
I have gone in one month from living a fully active life to living with debilitating pain and taking painkillers every day to manage that sometimes work. I don't know if I can manage teaching this semester (I teach college, and we start next week).
I have lost almost 20 pounds because I have no appetite. It's like one day I had a life even with stage 4 breast cancer, and now I don't.
My new GI doc worked in Boston with liver transplant patients and says she has seen similar reactions. My liver mets are significantly elevated.
I apologize for the lengthy post.

@marthawyatt this is terrible, I am so sorry you are going through this. The possible side effects are of course the thing we all fear when we make decisions about treatments, every person with cancer tries to weigh the risks and make the best choices, and it stinks when you end up in the percentage that has troubles. I don’t have liver Mets, just to be clear, but I do have advanced breast cancer. I am feeling sad for all you are going through. I am hopeful for your new GI doctor finding some relief for you.
If they are suspecting ulcers did they order you some carafate for symptom control? Is it normal for your liver tests to go up after radioembolization?

@marthawyatt Would love a follow up. Y90 on 1/14/2026 for cancer that spread from esophagus to the liver and after two weeks same type of concerns. Difficulty swallowing, lost 30 pounds in three weeks, unable to keep food or water down, not able to sleep for more than a couple of hours.
