Can having Dysphagia be an early sign of MS?

@myladybug I don’t know if it can be early symptom of MS but it can be a MS symptom. May not show up at initial MS diagnosis. I have diagnosed MS for 35 years, Dysphasia for last 5-6 yrs. Am old (77), don’t know if aging plays any role. Best wishes.

Thank you for your input. Gastro Dr says I have Immobility esophagus my esophagus does contract and move the food down so when I drink or eat anything, it feels like it gets stuck in it regurgitate in a lot of saliva.
She has me taking 5 mg of Buspirone to see if it helps. So far no difference I am going to ask her to bump it up to 10 mg three times a day. See if that helps just tired of feeling like a St. Bernard with all the saliva and drooling and I’m only 65.😔

Just wanted to update everyone - it's been a tad over 3 years. I had a relapse in May 2023 that was only noticeable on MRI - no new symptoms. Switched my DMT to Tecfidera, and have been stable since. For diet, I'm still sticking largely gluten/dairy free, but not being quite so restrictive. Bigger switch was getting meats (pork, chicken, beef) direct from source, and ones that are grass fed/finished, no nitrates/nitrites, etc. I did pull way back from things with highly processed sugars. Exercising regularly - weight has held steady at ~180lbs. Prepping for a 1/2 marathon in May, and have been road cycling since the fall - hoping to go for my first 60+ mile ride as soon as weather warms back up; by the end of 2026 I want to do a centennial (100+ miles). Overall, still doing very well. I was able to get back into disc golf - which I had stopped for a while due to my inability to really "feel" the disc. That said, overall prognosis is good, just more the "mental game" that you have to fight each day.
