What next? Failed lumbar fusion, failed revision, fractured vertebrae’
I am severely upset and in pain. I had a S1-L5 anterior fusion and next day posterior S1-L5 spinal fusion May 25. Disk L2 fractured in hospital was sent home with home health and pt to let body recover. 3 months later pain increased and Ct showed screws loosening and L2 worse with disc height. Neurosurgeon said revision surgety would help relieve pressure on disc and fusion. In Aug 25 has a revision surgery L2- T10, loosened screws in L2 removed and rods place over top joining revision. Started home healthcare and released to PT 2x week, low impact core strengthening. Nov 25 pain increase in mid back act shows possible fracture at T10. MRI was ordered confirmed fracture and bulging disc all new up to T1. Told to stop PT increased meds and muscle relaxers limit my movement and ordered new lumbar/thoracic brace to wear and recheck in 6 weeks. Jan 26 pain has increase can’t find relief with brace. What can be done to stop this cycle? My lumbar pain has increase as well.

@sweaver61 What comes to my mind after reading about your spine fractures and hardware failures is osteoporosis. Bone quality matters when you have to screw something to it. Have your doctors tested your bone quality?
My elderly mom has severe osteoporosis and has had a spinal fracture. She wore a back brace for awhile.
I'm sorry to hear about this and your pain. May I ask where you had all this surgery done and did they ask about osteoporosis as the other commenter said?
@jenniferhunter I had density test and only had minor osteopenia in my left hip. I have DJD and RA, fibromyalgia. I have a thoracic/lumbar brace that is quit uncomfortably to wear. I go tonight for Cervical MRI because a C4-C7 fusion from 2019 has damage above and below that ct showed.
