That’s great. How much did you have after surgery.

I had bone on bone and had a rTSR of the right shoulder on 5/1/25. I was 76. The results are absolutely great. Very little pain after the surgery which I handled with Tylenol. In a sling for ~ 3 weeks although I took it off for sitting and eating (I am right handed). Slept in a recliner for three weeks. Started PT at that time which lasted 5 weeks. Do all the exercises. My range of motion is very good. I can hit tennis balls as of December.

If you get a shot before the surgery to block the pain be careful the first day until the block wears off. I removed the sling to put the arm through the sleeve of a shirt and it fell and flopped like wet spaghetti. I was afraid I pulled the screws out but it was okay.

After 5 months the shoulder felt normal although the doctor has limited me to 30 lbs lifting with the right arm. I am considering getting the left shoulder replaced as well which is bone on bone.

Good luck.

My case is not common. On 10/29/25 I had (L) TRSR because my joints are being destroyed. I did Not age into this situation. Not diagnosed because doctors can’t tell what I have. (RA? PMR?) but triggered by a shingles shot on 6/11/24. Unmedicated since 7/21/25. I am in extreme pain but not from the surgery. I’m in physical therapy until February but it will get extended for another 2 months. My (R) shoulder will be replaced once my left is sufficiently healed and I can reach behind my back to pull up my pants! The shoulder is not awful; it’s the bone deterioration that makes my surgery so complicated.

Lady at my church had surgery last April, subsequently packed up her house and moved across town to a new home, took a 10-day trip to Europe and is doing very well. We had the same, excellent surgeon.
Best wishes to you!

I have had 4 surgeries 3 were regular and the 4th was a reversal, outcome not great, still a lot of discomfort, have since see another specialist in Tampa, Fl, and my choices have been another surgery, which at 74 nobody suggests doing or pain management and thats where I am. Get the best Dr out there someoe that does this on a daily weekly basis, which I had but was his 1 in a 1000 :(.

I will say my surgery was botched, to say the least.
I was required to stay one night in the hospital post surgery. My surgeon did not order pain medication while I was in the hospital. I was in agony. The night nurse reprimanded me for getting out of bed. I was pacing do to the pain. Her reply was " If you get out of bed I have to write a report, do you need to stay in bed. My requests for something for the pain fell on deaf ears. The nurse making her rounds snapped at me, saying I don't carry it on me.
My surgeon came by an I voiced my complaint.
All he said was I'm sorry and gave me one hydrocodone for the pain. He cut bones in my shoulder and he thought that would be enough! I'm in San Antonio. The hospital was North East Baptist. The surgeons name is Matthew A Napierala
Avoid these physicians at all cost.
