Skin cancer treated on face: How do you deal with going out in public?

Posted by jultan @jultan, Nov 24, 2025

Hi , I am new to this group and dont know how to start a new post. I am going to start this on my face and wondered what others did about going to work. I work in a job where I am around a-lot of people and am not comfortable with doing this and going to work.
Thank you

@beneah77 Yes, those lesions can indeed move fast! I'm glad to hear you got it removed. How are you feeling after the procedure?

@gingerw
Thanks for asking. Doing ok however this is the second one I’ve seen come up in 3-4 weeks. It’s very unsettling as I had a SCC found in one auxiliary lymph node. November 24. Had full dissection on 3rd Feb 25. Almost a year now 🙂
30 x radiation. Now scans 6 monthly for 5 years. It’s been o journey but coming out the other side

@beneah77 It is so good to hear you are staying on top of your skin checks, and questioning anything unusual!

I have a lot of scarring and bruising from my other conditions. So, when something appears, I have to rely on my [sometimes faulty!] memory to figure out if this is a new occurrence of SCC, or a result of hitting something.
