A throbbing sensation in the head

Posted by kuyt @kuyt, Nov 4, 2024

Greeting, i am 22 years old. I'm male. I am posting in the hope that someone may have had a similar or the same problem as me. A couple of weeks ago, I feel a throbbing only on one side of my head, I think it's the temporal bone. Above the ear a little towards the back of the head. So the pulsation is PAINLESS, it doesn't hurt or cause any problems. It's just annoying and it's boring. Pulsation is not always present and I would not say that it is in the rhythm of the heart because it does not pulsate constantly but occasionally. It lasts for a few hours, then it stops, and then it's quiet for a few days, nothing pulsates, and so on. Just freak me out. I think of the worst... I consulted several doctors and specialists, but they all said that it is nothing serious and that they do not even consider patients for examination because, as they say, "simple expansion and contraction of blood vessels in the middle of the heart's work". I can't calm down at all. Please, if anyone has experienced something similar or the same, please write a comment because I'm simply a hypochondriac. Don't write that you had the same or something similar, that it hurt, because it DOESN'T hurt me.

Hey I’m a 27yr old female. I’m happy I found this comment. I am too a hypochondriac. I have the same symptoms, the painless pulsing sensation on my left side by my temple. It caused me to go to the hospital in July 2025 because of the new feeling that I’ve never experienced before. It made me worry that there was something wrong like a stroke or brain aneurysm, because I’m a hypochondriac right?!?! & I also have hypertension. Well the hospital and doctors declared that my cat scans were normal and blood tests were normal. They did find a thickening on my left sinus. I have bad allergies and my nose is always stuffy or runny. So I thought that may be the issue…. Anyways fast forward to today as of January 4, 2026. I was at work and had to perform the heimlich maneuver on my client and stop him from choking. Which caused me to have really bad anxiety and made my heart beat incredibly fast. (Idk if this was the cause but the pulsation seems to happen when I’m under stress). This same painless pulsation came back and I went to the hospital panicking even more because this time it was so intense I couldn’t sleep & the pulse kept coming in 3 minute intervals. I went to the hospital and they ran cat scans again and blood tests but this time they put iodine in my IV and performed a iodine cat scan that would read if I had any abnormalities, inflammation or tumors on my brain. Everything came back CLEAR. So while they say we have nothing to worry about… in the back of our mind we are still worrying because this feeling isn’t a normal feeling. It’s January 6, 2026 & I’m feeling the same feeling but it was on set when I woke up to a loud bang. It was not intense like the one on January 4th…. So idk if these pulsations are triggered or what… I felt like maybe it is connected to the heart. Idk…. I really hope this helped you out. I know I didn’t give you an answer on to what’s going on but I wanted to let you know you are not alone! < 3

you are not alone and it sounds like you have elevated and im no doctor mind you , just have a lot of issues with anxiety and depression among other things associated with brain tumor i had removed, now back to you. anxiety can do things to your mind you cannot prepare for and feel. sub conscious were mine and i didn't have a clue till my daughter told me, then it started to make sense. i had my heart checked for palpitations and it is good. but my guess would be a bad case of high anxiety , might be worth looking into it. it made me feel like i had all kinds of things going wrong with me. ill say a prayer for you=====sent and have a blessed day.

I have something similar happen when I lie down at night to go to bed. I have a pulsating feeling in my head. It feels like it goes from 1 ear to the other. It does not hurt. Just a short pulsing sensation.
