Anyone w/seizures experience people talking/reading in riddles?
Does anyone experience people talking or reading in riddles that have or had seizures? A lot of people ask what is riddles only way I can describe it is when I read or have two people talking it’s in riddle form and drives me crazy or have to shut what I am reading down. Usually passes somewhat quickly but scares me when it happens the pictures or voices go back and forth like I am loosing my mind.

This is great news! I'm so happy for you!
From what I understand, if this 48-hour EEG comes back normal, the next step might be a video EEG at the hospital. But I'm not a doctor and might be wrong.
For now, try to focus on getting through this home EEG without letting your mind wander to all the "what ifs." My yoga teacher has this saying I try to remember: worrying about problems before they happen steals our peace without actually helping.
Sending you all my best wishes for a successful EEG!
Chris

Hope all is well Chris. I agree the likely next step will be a VEEG ( Video Electroencephalogram)
My memory is so bad, but do you have or suspect you have
Dissociative episodes? Is your
epileptologist planning to change, increase or add another medication? Are you having any Tonic-Clonics or only Focal-Impaired seizures.
NO SEIZURES ALLOWED IN 2026!!!
Take care,
Jake

3 Reactions@jakedduck1 so far have been nocturnal and once a focal at work. I am not sure if the 48 hr EEG will show anything since they don’t happen that frequently. I had one in 2023 and 2 and focal in 2025 and never before. Thought due to sleep apnea but had one with machine on. I am just trying to understand

Well, you never know what any EEG is going to show. Sometimes you may be having seizures during the EEG but they don't show sometimes because they're deep within the brain and they don't show up with surface electrodes. But even if you're EEG is considered normal that doesn't mean that you don't have epilepsy. I would suggest talking to your daughter about a sleep EEG and also removing your medication to increase your seizure chaces.
Take care,
Jake

2 ReactionsHi @crissyh76
As @jakedduck1 has well said, you never know what an EEG is going to show.
I know it's not easy, but try not to worry too much about whether this EEG will capture anything. Trying too hard to make something happen can sometimes work against us!
Have you received any instructions for your 48-hour EEG to help increase the chances of capturing epileptiform activity during the exam?
Fingers crossed for you!
Chris

2 ReactionsI asked about not taking my meds etc. neurologist said to still take meds and if CPAP gets in the way to just use it. I thought that was sorta strange but do you listen to doc or go other way? I mean I don’t want to have one but I want answers hopefully in the same sentence so any advice would be helpful. Thanks

I'm not sure I understood correctly when you mentioned that your neurologist said to keep taking your meds and to use the CPAP if it gets in the way. Was this your doctor's instruction for your EEG exam?
My doctor also doesn't recommend stopping medications for regular EEGs – the ones where preparation is done at home rather than in the hospital. The main thing he recommends is to stay awake as much as possible the night before the EEG.

1 Reaction@santosh099 the 30 min EEG I was recommended to be sleep deprived. The 48 hr at home I asked about stopping the med she said no still take the medication and as far as my CPAP which I use the nostril mask she said if it gets in the way then just don’t use it. I would think I wouldn’t take the meds to try and see if anything happens and my sleep apnea is pretty bad at times. It starts at a 6 and goes to 17 for my episodes so it’s just a hot mess for sure. So do I stop the med day before the at home test or just continue
