Has anyone else had emgality injections for migraines? Side effects?
I have been on emgality injections for 3 months about to do my fourth one. I have had some side effects that my neuro dr says can't be from the injections. This is the only new med I have started in 4 months. Long story short, I have been very fatigue, high blood pressure, dizzy spells, ringing in the ears, and almost like sinusitis infection. About 2 weeks after first injection dr put me on antibiotics and steroids for a severe sinusitis infection and double ear infections. I felt better till I got the second injection now I have the same symptoms all the time some days or worse than others and some days are good. I also have back pain along with hand swelling for about a week to 2 weeks each time I get injections. My health insurance is very strict and my family dr has to refer me to specialist. What should I do or are these side effects normal. Yes my migraines are so much better than they were but I don't know if I can live with the side effects.

@bernieboy Thanks so much. I will present this idea next week for my pain centre Dr.
I do appreciate your testimony, you do understand.
@suszy39
I understand. I, too, have been diagnosed with Occipital Neuralgia, as well as, Trigeminal Neuralgia, along with a plethora of symptoms that specialists are helping me to manage the debilitating & chronic pain. These migraines are awful. Emgality begins tomorrow. I am hopeful & I appreciate you & all who share their experiences. Thank you.
My Neurologist teaches how to give Botox to other doctors she is the best. She is in Illinois if you happen to live there . Good Luck.

Sounds like you need to stop those injections and try something else if possible. Seems like you’ve gotten sicker since you started the injections and believe me when I say the doctor most likely will not have you stop them you have to make that decision. We have to be our own advocate.
@bernieboy My pain centre Dr. gives really good nerve block shots I plan on asking about the
Botox. Wish me luck.

1 Reaction@bernieboy I do have one more question on Botox. Do you get them regularly or when your
pain in really high? One person said a dose of Valium/medrol really cured theirs? have you
ever heard this?
@suszy39 I get Botox every 3 months. It didn't start helping until the third time I had it. Valium makes you relax but as far as helping headaches I have my doubts.

2 Reactions@bernieboy Got it. Medicare will only pay every four months on the Nerve shots. However, If the Botox would help every three months I will be happy to pay.
