Evenity is recommendation and concern

Osteoporosis diagnosis after vertebrae fracture. Endocrinologist recommended Evenity. It can be taken for one year, then a follow up drug. I had a heart attack 2 years ago and a significant warning comes with this drug regarding heart attack and stroke potential. That was minimized by the Dr. saying my fracture risk outweighs the study (2) results. The European Union Medical Agency won't prescribe this drug for those with a previous heart attack. My Dexa scores are not in severe range, but a fall fractured a vertebrae, so at 80 I am considered high fracture risk. Has anyone been on Evenity? The anxiety taking it might be worse than any side effects! The decision is mine, just weighing everything. Appreciate this site to just vent concerns.

Have you researched other OP meds? It's my impression that not all have the same risk profile.

I am assuming you have a cardiologist since you had a heart attack. Have you discussed the use of Evenity with him or her?

@normahorn Yes to contact with Cardiologist. I'm waiting for response to my inquiry in Portal. I have researched other OP meds. Three options I would consider: Tymolos, FOrteo, Prolia. All have side effects that are also of concern and having to take drugs the rest of my life. Weighing: potential fractures with drug therapy and the hopeful healing of said fracture(s) without. What a difficult decision we all make.

I'm no expert for certain, but since you've had a heart attack and there's that cardiovascular warning with Evenity, I'd go with Tymlos or Forteo. Why risk it?
