Limiting sugars is something that really needs to happen at our house. How long did it take for you to quit craving sugar?

@jodeej I've never been a huge eater of sugar. What did eat a ton of was bread, cheese, lunch meat, chips and soda. But back then, I never really felt as good as I do now. So even absent the obvious health issues related to sugar, I feel better not eating it. To me, it's simply a trade-off. I'm trading a little short-term pleasure and convenience for long-term health & feeling good.

The only "trick" I use to deal with the lack of sugar is Stevia. I use it primarily to sweeten lemon juice to make lemonade. I've also used it to sweeten iced tea. My wife uses it in her coffee. I doesn't taste exactly like sugar and is much more expensive, but I've yet to read anything about bad effects on our body. Who knows. 5 years from now, they very well could find that it causes hair growth in odd places, and I'll be the guy roaming around Arizona with hair growing out of my teeth.

@jodeej I have adjusted well to limiting salt, but sweets? Nope. I still enjoy them and find them hard to resist.

Well after the 3rd round of preds. I didn't have much will power. It's Christmas and I'm making cookies if it kills me. In Jan. I WILL get on the right track again. I don't have an addictive behavior issue. Even though I have cirrhosis I never drank that much and was able to quit the day the Dr diagnosed me. One lucky thing I guess...
