Broken Heart Syndrome/grief

Posted by bezrineb224 @bezrineb224, Feb 14, 2025

Hi. I'm new and don't know where to start.

My brother and best friend is in late stages of a rare form of non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma. He' still fighting with a 50/50 chance of the last option chemo working.

I am devastated. I believe I have broken heart syndrome, as does my daughter. Any tips on managing this grief? Any suggestions are helpful.

I’m glad you got diagnosed and treated. I had some shortness of breath and slight dizziness a couple of months after my wife died and my PCP sent me to my cardiologist. He was very familiar with broken heart syndrome and said it was quite serious. He said I was under a ton of stress due to the death of my wife. He did an EKG and an ultrasound which showed my heart was functioning fine. My physical symptoms were from the stress. He gave me medication to lower my BP but said I could stop it when it came down. But that’s when I learned that broken heart syndrome is a real thing.
