Kidney cancer ablation

Posted by 2ndjourney @2ndjourney, 2 days ago

I had a kidney ablation on Friday to freeze a cyst. That was successful, they got the cancer, but punctured my lung. It's now Sunday, I've been on a chest tube to remove fluid/air from around my heart. I've read this is a rare occurrence, but it's still affecting me financially, emotionally. I'm grateful the cancer is gone, but is this a legal matter?

@2ndjourney Oh, dear, I'm sorry to hear of this complication.

This might be a legal matter. What has the medical place said about this complication? What has the doctor said? Have you got a copy of pre-procedure list of what will be done/possible complications to refer to and see if this was on the list? Were things explained clearly to you?

Yes, I signed some things when I was admitted (of course I just signed and breezed through it🙄), some risks were outlined, but I don't believe that was one of them. I was contemplating talking to a lawyer when I get out, because if it causes financial, emotional stress, it could be considered medical negligence. The one thing that bothers me about that is if I need this particular doctor/hospital again. Awkward. 🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️
