Having a colonoscopy next week, can I still take Orgovyx?
Colonoscopy scheduled next week. I've been taking Orgovyx since August 24, 2024 for Gleason 9, no other medications. Primary care physician said maybe stop a day or two before the procedure. Urologist said I don't have to stop taking it. Any advice, suggestions, etc appreciated. Thank you.

I had one 10 months post SBRT, not because I was told to wait, but because that was when I was due
The nutritional plan that was recommended by my gastroenterologist is absolutely horrid... low fiber, bland, low residue, mind-bogglingly banal and boring, unspeakably unappealing, ghastly, grim, and godawful. Can't wait for the all-day loathsome lousy liquid diet highlighted by the grisly Gatorade/ Miralax libation.
I've heard during several interviews with ROs that they like to see their patients get a colonoscopy prior to radiation. One reason is if there is colon cancer, treatment of that would take priority. Another is so that the longest amount of time can go by before the patient has their next colonoscopy after the radiation. If the next colonoscopy is performed too soon, the gastroenterologist performing it may find things in the rectum that are relatively normal bad looking things after radiation that a prostate RO would know enough to allow to heal, that may appear so abnormal to a gastroenterologist doing a colonoscopy they may investigate, thinking it is something it isn't. If these things are investigated, a risk is a fistula which will lead to surgical attempts to deal with that, etc., which is moving towards a worse outcome, one that could be safely avoided by not having a colonoscopy too soon after radiation. Your mileage may vary.
Rather than asking a primary care doc or a urologist about anything connected to a colonoscopy after radiation, it would seem the best person to talk to is the person who administered your radiation.

1 ReactionGood advice. Thanks!
@johnny8924 It literally takes me a week to recovery from the assault of that jungle juice. "Grim" is very fitting.
