After my transplant (liver/kidney) my hair also thinned. One of my doctors told me I could take Biotin 2.5 - 1X daily. It is over the counter. I think it was the dermatologist at my 4 month checkup and my team approved it for me. I also used a mild shampoo and conditioner.
