Flashes and floaters after cataracts surgery and blurry vison
Did anybody have this experience?
I had both cataract eye surgery and OMNI glaucoma surgery for my left eye the same day in September 30, 2025. A month later, my vision is till blurry and floaters seem to fade but just few days ago I started noticed the return of flashes. My doctor ruled out a retina detachment. I went to seek a second opinion ,a retina specialist, and he said so far he has not seen the retina detachment but my vision is still blurry. Honestly my eye was better than before.
Any advice?
Thank you

Thanks for sharing your experience. I too have been experiencing blurry vision. For a while, I thought it was a side effect of a medication I was taking but after having seen my md yesterday, I think it’s age related due to what you’ve shared. I confirm this in a few days but you’re giving me hope that it’s nothing serious. Thanks again. 🙏

1 Reaction@juliannabeanie I have had floaters for years and don't worry about them. I worry about the other things that are happening in my eyes. Like the kaleidoscope vision, the partial black out in my right eye where I could not read anything on the right side, clear on the left but not the right. SO I went to the doctor yesterday about he said I had a stroke in the right eye said a blood clot blocked my vision and passed on through. He said I could have been blind if it had not moved on. Scary. So he is watching it. Sending me for blood tests and wants to see me in a week.

1 Reaction@chrispie I had cataract surgery on both eyes in January 2025. Since both surgeries, I have blurry vision and floaters. I was told my eyes are dry so I have been treating them with drops, gels, compresses, IPL, steam, etc. I have decided to have my lenses replaced as the Vivity lens I have can cause issues with glare and halos for some people. I will be having the surgery in a couple weeks and I am flying to have it done by a doctor who is experienced with exchanging the Vivity lens. I plan to have the basic lens put in--I am a diabetic and I have read that it is best for diabetics. I will deal with the floaters later. I was told by one doctor that it is because the new lens is clear and I am able to see them now. Another doctor told me it may have been caused by the cataract surgery. I have seen 4 doctors for opinions after the initial surgeries and the exchange doctor will be the 5th.

Is it safe to have a replacement lens as opposed to a piggy back lens.
I have a similar dry eye problem which has been exasperated since having my cataracts removed
Yes, I think an exchange is the typical thing to do when a person is unhappy with the lens. The doctor I am using has done exchanges after patients have had YAG laser capsulotomy for a PCO. I do have a PCO forming, but I have not had the laser surgery. I suspect the Vivity lens is more bothersome with dry eye because it creates more halos and glare. I'm hoping my vision will improve with the replacement lens so the dry eye will seem more manageable.
@juliemra Will you share where you are going for your Exchange surgery? I understand that it is difficult if you have waited a year.
@jhs1950 I am going to Austin, TX to see Dr. Shannon Wong. I have followed his work online and decided to see him because of his experience exchanging the Vivity lens in more complex cases than mine.
@juliemra I thought that might be where you are going. Please keep us updated when you are having your Exchange.
