I am going to start Alpha Lipoic Acid @600 mg/d to determine...
if it is effective to address pain in feet from peripheral neuropathy. Should I expect to see a drop in levels of B-12 in serum? Should I begin supplementation now of B-12? What is consensus on this?

I've been taking 1200mg a day for over a year, and it has made a difference in my pain. A small difference, but I'll take any help I can get.

@mrmacabre I read somewhere to use the R-Alpha Lipoic Acid because for some reason the R works the best....I have been taking the R-Alpha Lipoic Acid 600 mg daily for Burning Mouth Syndrome, along with Gabapentin.......I purchase R-ALA on Amazon. My pain is much better. Hope this helps you....Check out the R....and see if it helps more.
@slakenkraken Try the R-Alpha Lipoic Acid....Sold on Amazon. I was online checking with different studies for Burning Mouth Syndrome, and they recommended the R-ALA. Good Luck.
Are you using methylated B12?
@blowerk1216 absolutely 😁
@blowerk1216 My Primary Doctor has been giving me B 12 once a month for the past 3 to 4 months. At my last visit with her, I asked if I could take it every week, and she ordered it. I do feel from the one injection a month that the B12 has helped my neuropathy. My son-in-law is a Podiatrist and he started giving it to me now on a once a week schedule. I will evaluate the results from it and get back to you.
@kinura8 My Dr. gave me a Rx for Gabapentin but I didn't feel it helped and I didn't like the side effects from it. I have been taking the B12 for the past 3 to 4 months. I feel it is helping, so have started getting a injection once a week.
@bevthenurse are you using methylated B12?
