Differentiated Liposarcoma: What treatments have you had?
A few weeks ago I was diagnosed with Differentiated Liposarcoma which seems to be a very rare cancer, I am having a hard time researching for related information. The MAYO team have been great to do the needed tests. The Mass has grown and attached to the colin and bladder and surrounded the main blood vessel that sends blood the the leg and foot so surgery is not an option. I am also told chemo is not option in my case so we will be looking at radiation.
If there is anyone out there that has this Liposarcoma cancer I would appreciate hearing from you and learning about your life with this cancer. Are their other alternative treatments that anyone is aware of?

Please help! My 57 years old dad has a very agressive dedifferentiated liposarcoma metastasized to the lungs. It covers one fourth of his back (lower right side), coming out about 8 inches, and it’s growing very rapidly everyday. It has now reached the spine eating into a vertebrae, and it is growing in all directions, he is starting to loose function in his right leg… He lives in Quebec, Canada, and doctors told him there is nothing they can do but to keep him on morphine for pain management. Dad is too young to die, is there anything that can be done?

1 Reaction@amelieonsoti, I'm so sorry to hear about your dad. Here is a clinical trial at Mayo Clinic that you might look into:

@sids, you are in good hands at Mayo Clinic. Did you do radiation treatment? What type? How are you doing?
I am 83 and the person above. I completed five weeks of radiation at MAYO and go back in three months for new CT scans to see if the radiation was successful in stopping the growth. MAYO has been great and would recommend you contact them. Dedifferentiated Liposarcoma is very rare and you are the first one in a year that has the same one, although in a different area of the body. I also have contacted a Naturopathic doctor that is trying to help me build up my immune system so the body will be able to attack and destroy the cancer. Mine is already stage 4 because it has spread so much, but we are working on it.

No dad has had no radiation. His liposarcoma tripled in size following the biopsy. Prior to the biopsy the lump had been growing slowly over a period of a year and he had no pain.
@sids
I’m sorry you are also battling the same. Yes it is extremely rare. I pray your treatments work and you may be healed 🙏
My dad has stage 4 dedifferentiated liposarcoma metastasized to lungs and who has been told by doctors that only palliative treatments can be given. It is a massive lump taking over a fourth of his back. Despite having no hope medically speaking, my dad has faith in Jesus who changes all. Before this trial came upon him, God kept him and now he says God is even closer to him, carrying him in His arms and that in the future he is assured eternal life if he accepts what God has given him. Fear what, death? When we fear something, it will happen. Dad has no fear as he knows he is with his Creator who is always with Him and even if he dies, he will always be with him. Dad says that when you think like that, there are no fears and more space to find solutions. He wants to give hope to others and share with others. Doctors said that the metastasis in the lungs would take his life before the lump on his back. At the moments the lungs are doing well. He used to spit out blood but not anymore. His breathing is very good. My dad wants to encourage all to ask God for solutions and He will answer.

1 ReactionMy mother has been suffering from dedifferentiated liposarcoma (retroperitoneal mass) and she was operated in 2023 and the tumour was removed with negative margin and again in 2026 reccurance of the tumour happened and some doctors saying that first they will give chemotherapy to reduce the size the tumour and then they will operate. But some doctors saying that they will operate without giving chemotherapy but they have to remove some parts of the colon and pancreas because tumour is attached with that. So I am confused what to do. Please help if any one have idea about that.
