What is the normal way of taking care of hyperthyroidism?
Just diagnosed with hyperthyroidism. Tested at 0.07. Really tired. No sleep. Some hand shaking but only sometimes. Racing heart causing extreme sweating. What is the normal way of taking care of this issue

After my first flare up of Graves’ disease in 2016, it went into remission for about 7 years. Methimazole is apparently the most frequently used treatmemt—also beta blockers for heart symptoms.

2 ReactionsThere is a long history of complex thyroid disorders in my family. Numerous endocrinologists have informed me that graves’ disease and other thyroid autoimmune conditions DO NOT “turn into cancer”. However, i have also been informed by multiple doctors that a dysfunctional thyroid can result in other conditions

2 Reactionsmy endochrinologist has told me that beta blockers are protecting my heart from the potentially serious damage that Graves’ disease can cause. He also told me that the Graves’ disease is damaging my bones and that my osteoporosis is getting worse. He is afraid to give me osteoporosis meds because i’ve had serious adverse reactions that 99.9 of the world doesn’t have.

2 ReactionsHey, this may be weird, but I suspect I have some kind of thyroid dysregulation. One thing I have noticed recently is one eye is much wider than the other, and while it does seem to be bulging very excessively, it is noticeably odd. Is it strange in hyperthyroidism for this to occur?
tfaperson1, Usually any bulging in eyes with thyroid disease could be Graves Disease which is a form of Hyperthyroidism. I do hope you are under an Endocrinologist's care and have gotten a full work up. They give different medications. You need to contact one immediately.
If it is Graves Disease, you will have to be under a special eye doctor's care for your eyes.
Blessings & Prayers....
I suffer from Hashimoto’s and Hypothyroidism and I take 75 mcg of Synthroid to control that. Not sure what you’d do for Hyperthyroidism. There may be a medication for it as well, but your doctor should tell you if you need medication or not. What did he say about your lab work?
@tfaperson1 Usually both eyes will bulge from this thyroid condition. This is just what I’ve read.
When I had hyperthyroidism my symptoms were weighloss, jitters, constant hunger, and hair and nails grew like crazy.
Initially went to doc because I just kept dropping weight...thought I had some form of cancer. They put me on meds. As I kept regaining weight, I self reduce my dosage cuz I was afraid to go the other way to hypo. My endo was not pleased...but i didnt want to gain too much weight.. and it worked for me. I'm off meds and TSH remains normal...now 9 years later.
