Gravelly Feeling Eyes - Can I take Refresh, Systane....
I take Dorzolamide-Timolol 2%-0.5% (gel) twice a day and Travaprost Z 0.004% at bedtime for Glaucoma. Can I take some OTC eye drops that will give me relief but not have a bad interaction with my prescription medications?

Welcome @cvgn7, This is a question you really should ask your eye doctor. Members on Connect can share their experience but we are patients like yourself and not able to provide medical advice. Here is some information on the side effects but I would still discuss the question with my doctor first.

1 ReactionAlways see a doctor to make sure. I have gravelly eyes a lot. I have seen a doctor for it and he tells me to use eye drops. The ones you mention is some of the ones I have tried. I wash my eyes out at least two or three times a day with eye wash from Bausch and Lomb. that helps a lot. I get debris in my eyes from the air around me. dust, sprays anything in the air gets into my eyes and that is why I wash them out. I use a lot of eye drops daily also. Do see a doctor to find our what you really have. but in my experience with my gravelly eyes I need to moisten them

Hi I have been fighting glaucoma for about 30 years now and am on Dorzolamide, Pilocarpine, and Rocklatan everyday. I also do take refresh whenever I eyes feel dry. It helps. My glaucoma doc says there are a couple of new eye drugs in testing now that might help us in the future. Take care.

3 ReactionsI don't have glaucoma, but get tested yearly due to family history. My opthamologist, a glaucoma specialist, recommends preservative-free Ivizia wetting drops. I like the Ivizia lid cleanser/makeup remover also--bottle vs wipes, as the latter are more expensive, but the wipes might be great during the day if your eyes are uncomfortable?

I plan on leaving a message for my eye doctor at the local VA tomorrow. Or I can even call the VA appointment setters today and they give me the option to talk to a triage nurse - she/he has the ability to most definitely get a message through.
