Thank you for alerting us to this research! The San Antonio BR CA Symposium should provide breaking research like this so look forward to learning more. The results from the Phase 3 are promising but assume we now have to wait for the Phase 4 trials to be completed.

2 ReactionsSounds promising and I would like to see ASCO’s opinions on the trials. I hope it doesn’t not affect by the funding cut. Hopeful we would be able to reap the benefits of the new drug. Thank you for sharing the information. Happy Hollidays everyone.

1 ReactionI’m holding a wait and see. Yes, every positive outcome above what we have is good. I guess my problem is that they’re still reporting same side effects as the ai therapy plus the addition of some cardiac effects that don’t occur with the ai’s. So I guess I wonder if it causes all the same problems, is it really safer. I’m keeping the articles in my file but still cautious in my enthusiasm.

3 ReactionsI sent this article to my oncologist to get her opinion. She's normally skeptical about alternatives to AI, but without hesitation she said "I'm familiar with this - and it shows great promise! It's not yet approved by the FDA. Once it is, it'd be worth a conversation about switching." (I'm currently on Exemestane.)
Stay tuned!

2 ReactionsI also, am familiar with this research and thankfully it is far enough along to be financially, pretty much in the hands of the pharmaceutical industry now (something I never thought I would say), and they can afford to bring it over the finish line if it continues to perform in this way. The research funding cuts shouldn’t prevent it from finishing trials @myoga I am sure you noticed I said “shouldn’t” lol.
This is an early trial with 32 months of follow up, so definitely promising. So far this drug is outperforming our current drugs in phase III trials. If this continues through phase IV trials and it has a similar side effect profile, but is 30% better at helping us survive breast cancer, I will call that a win.

3 Reactions@mistymar Yes, cardiac effects can occur with AI's, that's the reason I had to go off of them. My moderate high blood pressure climbed & climbed until I suddenly was having "Labile hypertension" with spikes up to 180/, 190/ and higher. Now I live with taking 3-4 BP drugs to control the "spikes."
