Parasagittal meningioma adjacent to the posterior right frontal lobe

Posted by deborah52 @deborah52, Dec 6 10:13pm

8x8x14 mm and some invasion into the superior sagittal sinus. I see a Nero surgeon Dec 19th. Blacked out last Sunday, been having headaches, right blurry vision, weird noises in ear. I went to ENT and he saw nothing, same with eye doctor. Memory issues, can't find some words, leg weakness, ...neurologist said it's not big but the location is what worried her. It's invading a large blood vessel that fills and empties. SSS meningioma.

I have had some of the same symptoms right eye pain, headache, weakness in legs. I see a neurosurgeon December the 10 and will get more information. Mine is larger than yours 2.1x2.3x2.3 mm and was caught by accident. Prayers for you.

@doyel mine was found in 2017 and I was never informed of it. It was 5 x 5 x 8 mm back then. A nerologist at the hospital said it wasn't the size of mine it was where it was headed, growing into. Invasive. I blacked out and spent 4 days in hospital. I see a Nero surgeon on the 19th. I have been having symptoms since last June. Lost words, forgetting things, etc. Is yours invading the SSS . I've been trying to read and educate myself . Prayers for you. A hug too.

I have a meningioma found in 2018. Didn’t know I had it. It was found when I had a Ct scan for something else.

It is about the size of a quarter and fortunately it has not increased in size nor has it invaded surrounding areas.
I have a yearly MRI and then see my neurosurgeon.

I went to the hospital because I was having quadruple vision.

My neurosurgeon said the meningioma did not cause that symptom.

I’m thankfully it hasn’t increased.

I'm just thankful that i am healing every day, momma said one step at a time . wow i want to run , frosty is another word for anger, didn't know that till earlier today. want a smile, my angel is named Richard and he is awesome at his job, 2024 i kept him very busy that it was crazy, walnut sized tumor that was cancerous and lung cancer. all i can point out is prayers work the more the better, family that fights for you and lastly something to fight for, i fight for my daughter and time. lost 26 years of being in her life and now I'm fighting to stay as long as possible. saying a prayer for you------------ sent and now have a blessed day.

An update. Today met with Nero surgeon and surgery is not a option due to location of tumor. They are going to do radiation and try to shrink it.

@deborah52, thanks for the update. What type of radiation will you be getting? When do you start?

@colleenyoung I don't know, I asked him how many treatments and Nero surgeon says, just one. I had never met him before n I bet I spent a whole 5 minutes with him, I guess radiation oncology? That was yesterday, I'm waiting for a call, I tried looking up why he said just One, radio surgery, ? Gamma knife? I feel a bit let down since it was not explained.

@deborah52 :I also have an 8mm meningioma in that same location. So far, based on my last annual MRI, it hasn't grown. In the back of my mind, at times, I worry about it growing into the sagittal sinus vein, so am sorry this is the reality you are dealing with. I already had one meningioma removed (craniotomy) near my optic nerve. The neurosurgeon who did that surgery already informed me that because of the location of my remaining parasagittal meningioma if it did grow, and was causing symptoms, I'd have to have radiation. And he specifically said it would be one treatment. I am under the impression that whether you have gamma knife or cyber knife depends on which one of these expensive machines the hospital has purchased. I am also sorry your consult was all of 5 minutes. That was not my experience with my neurosurgeon at UCSF. If your neurosurgeon has referred you to a radiation oncologist I am hoping that physician will spend the appropriate amount of time with you to explain the procedure in detail and answer all your questions. Make sure to take another person to your consult as a second set of ears because there will be a lot of information given to you. (Hopefully)
