I'm a side sleeper too @lotsofpain. I've tried many different pillows but what has worked best for me is a standard pillow along with a small travel pillow on top of it that I can move around on top of the larger pillow to keep my neck a little straighter. I've also gotten in a habit of using another small pillow between my knees to hopefully take the stress off my legs and hips. I recently bought a special cervical pillow made for back or side sleepers but it was a little too hard for my liking. I did like that it felt good laying my head on it when I was on my side but just couldn't get used to the firmness of the pillow - https://www.amazon.com/Derila-Cervical-Pillow-Sleeping-Ergonomic/dp/B0F3NTQCYP. The small pillow I bought works well for me on top of any of my other soft pillows - https://www.mypillow.com/the-multi-use-mypillow.

How is your hip pain now?

I’ve used pillow from Macy’s, also from Amazon, and one from Quince or Cozy House (?) over past 30 years. They all help. It’s really a matter of what monetary cost. Be sure to get one that is firm but not hard. I replace it every 3-4 years. Best wishes. Oh, also sleep on left side but pillow works either side, or even on back under your knees. Have DDD, 5 spinal surgeries and hardware.
