Different drugs have different potencies. 25 mg of Benadryl is not equivalent to 25 mg of trazodone. Likewise, 5 mg of Ambien is not equivalent to 25 mg of trazodone or .5 mg of Ativan -
I tried trazodone once and didn’t sleep for 2 1/2 hours. My current PCP prescribed it again and I will try it - taking it earlier & adding some melatonin. Both doctors suggested that.
I’ve heard it can cause drowsiness, but I’ve read that taking it with a meal will lessen that grogginess effect as well taking it earlier in the night

@berekann I've been taking 150mg. of Trazodone for over ten years with absolutely no side effects. Sleep through about 7 hours
