Widespread nerve pain after acupuncture and earwax suctioning

Posted by charger57 @charger57, 3 days ago

I had acupuncture and Dr hit a nerve. Needle stayed in 13 hours. After about five weeks ent did an earwax vacuum procedure which caused terrible pain in ear and head felt swollen and very closed up. Terrible nerve pain for six months now and has become widespread. Nervous system is now super hypersensitive and nit handling meds because of increased headaches etc. Anyine else have anything like this?

Hi there!
I am so glad to have stumbled over your post just now!

I have been suffering of neuropathy for a few years now, and many factors such as mercury poisoning seem to have played a role, but the real pain started after I received traditional acupuncture at a Chinese practitioner. I had consulted her for nerve tingling in my feet. The first session was absolutely amazing and I felt wonderful after the treatment. The tragedy happened at the second session: the acupuncturist hit the radial nerve on my left lower arm. Already during treatment I felt my whole arm aching starting at the fingers, up the hand, creeping up, up, up infused with pain. I told her to stop, but she simply answered it is normal to experience a certain amount of pain during treatment and left the needle in.

The following day I had what I call an electric nerve shock experience: my whole peripheral nervous system reacted, burning, crippling pain creeping up my feet, legs, hand, arms. It took me a few days to recover a bit, but since that acupuncture treatment: not a single day without pain. 3 years now.

So, yes, I am certain acupuncture can damage nerves. I do not know about earwax vacuum treatments, but the ear is connected to some very sensitive cranial nerves. If damage happens there it could most certainly effect your whole nervous system.

I hope you find a way to cope with it. If you do, please let me know since none of the doctors here in Europe were able to help!

I told my acupuncturist that one of the needles was hurting also but told me to leave it alone. Also told the ent I wasn’t comfortable with the suctioning only 5 weeks after acupuncture incident but I trusted them when I should have gone with my gut. I’m sorry you’re dealing with this pain too.
