Hello,
I became unable to get out of a chair. My partner called an ambulance and I was taken to a small local hospital where I had a CT scan. The scan revealed a large frontal lobe mass. I was taken to a larger hospital where an MRI determine the mass to be probable meningioma measuring 6.3 cm. After the surgery pathology determined the tumor to be WHO grade 2 meningioma. Grade 2 meningiomas have a greater chance of returning, so radiation treatment after surgery is often recommended to kill whatever may remain after resection. Usually the radiation is intensity modulated X-rays given in fractional doses over several weeks. Sometimes proton therapy is used which can have lesser side effects. I had 30 treatments over a 6 week period. Gamma knife is very concentrated and precise and often used to destroy smaller tumors or tumors that can’t be surgically removed. Yes, routine MRIs become the new normal😖
